ADAPTATION - After our debut performance of The Seagull (Not That One), we took the show to Prague Fringe in May 2023. With time to reflect on the piece, the show adapted in to something new. Following the same story, and the same performers, the show went on to win two awards at the fringe. The Inspiration Award, awarded for new pieces of work, and the Prague Fringe Audience Award, which we won in conjunction with Black Swann.
ABOUT - “So what do you do? What can you do? You find something you can live with, and stick with it.”
The Seagull (Not That One) is an original dark comedy by Phoebe Byrne and John Crooks.
The story follows two neighbours who meet under very strange circumstances. Fraser has been camped out on the roof of a Glasgow tenement hunting seagulls. Francesca has been finding dead seagulls in her rhubarb patch. She’s going to put a stop to it.
Exploring community, isolation, and pest control, The Seagull (Not That One) is an investigation of the coming-of-age genre and inner city living, questioning how well we know our neighbours, and how well we know ourselves.
